Spring Tortoise Biscornu

My entry for 's Puppy Love Spring Contest! I've had my eye on this pattern for quite a while, so I was very happy for the excuse to make it!

Last Christmas, I received a very beautiful supply of DMC Light Effects Classical Blends and I have been waiting for the right project to use them on. I decided to change the colours in the pattern so that the butterflies' wings were stitched in the metallic threads - the butterflies sparkle and look amazing in the light! The reverse side pattern also required the use of both 1/4 and 3/4 stitches. I had no experience with fractional stitches before, but I think they came out perfectly and I love the detail that they added to the flowers and their leaves.  Finally, the biscornu was filled with a mixture of stuffing and potpourri, so that it smells lovely.

I originally found the pattern here, but it seems to be unavailable there now. I think it may be possible to find a copy of the pattern on Pinterest, but if not feel free to note me and I'll send it to you.
